My 8 Best Tips on Money

Hello Artists,

Today I want to talk to you about money.

But first, I have an important disclaimer: I’m not trying to be any sort of money guru. In fact, I’ve had a lot of challenges with money, and it is definitely a work in progress.

However, after educating myself as much as I can and surrounding myself with people who are good with money, I wanted to list out the greatest tips I’ve learned so far on the topic.

Sharing these has helped me see how much I have grown and how far I’ve come. Listing them out also allowed me to see where I can get back into alignment and even re-implement these lessons wherever necessary.

I wanted to make the tips very practical so I framed them as actual advice I wish someone would've told younger Darius.

Check out the audio lesson below.

My 8 Best Tips on Money

Hit play to hear the greatest lessons I’ve learned over the years about money, including:

  1. Money is a relationship, and just like any relationship, it takes conversation and work.

  2. Money is just energy. It’s not good or evil—it’s neutral.

  3. Revenue is not the same as savings.

  4. Set up a system to automate your savings.

  5. Accountability is crucial. No one does it alone!

  6. Language and honesty matters. E.g. “debt” and “loan” might refer to the same thing, but one has a lot less shame.

  7. Face your finances, and don’t look away. There is power in looking at the truth.

  8. You can’t value the miracle of your life in dollars. And if you did, you’d be a billionaire.

Journaling Prompt

Make a list:

  • Where in your life do you feel the most rich or wealthy?

  • Where in you life do you feel least rich or wealthy? The answers might surprise you.

I’ve learned that we feel least rich or wealthy in the areas of our lives where we are out of integrity. So, for each item on your list, ask yourself if you’re in integrity in that area of your life, and what you can do to address it.

For example: My equipment storage area is a mess. And instead of looking at it and take 1-2 hours to clean it up, I’ve been ignoring it because it’s overwhelming. But every time I start, I realize just how fast and easy it is. If I were to draw a parallel to an area of my life where I feel similar, might compare my storage locker to my bookkeeping process. Much like the storage area, my bookkeeping has been neglected because it feels daunting, but dealing with it is often simpler than anticipated. Addressing these areas—both my storage locker and my bookkeeping—helps me feel more organized and in control, ultimately contributing to a greater sense of wealth and abundance.
